[Shinji is glaring down at another device, black and blue like his outfit, although he looked more confused than angry.

Every once in a while, he would turn to point it at something behind him, before turning back in annoyed confusion.

A small way off behind him, short work had been made of a coconut crab which now hung wrapped in large, thorn-covered roots. Judging by the way they had broken through the earth somewhat chaotically, the crab had probably been disturbed when its dwellings were inadvertently ruined midst Shinji's Pokemon training.

The turtle-like beast roared, glowing with a bright green aura as the long roots stretched far out of the camera's range, before flinging the creature into the ground, then they sunk back into the earth, the cracks closing up for the most part.

Shinji finally seemed to give up.]

"No data"? How can there be "no data"?!

[He glares at the small device for just a moment longer before pocketing it, turning to glare at the PCD now. His voice is calmer, but still irritable.]

This place, Adstringendum... it's not part of the Shinnou Region. Not Kanto, Jouto, Houen, or any of the surrounding islands either.

... How do I leave?

[Dodaitose stared down at the creature, sniffing at it and quietly growling.

It stepped back, digging its forelimb into the earth and scraping away unti it made a hole big enough to push the crab into, then buried it.]

[There is a large green tortoise-like monster staring at the camera when it begins recording. It is sitting, short brown legs tucked, and staring, only blinking every so often; quick, reactionary blinks.

The shell atop its back carries grass and what appear to be small trees, but judging by the look on its face, it's seeing something much stranger.

Finally, it opens its mouth to make a small growling sound, questioning its unseen trainer.]

Tch. Useless! What a mess.

... Useless, useless, useless is this device
I've already said this twice, no, thrice!

[The scene blurs with the speed he flips the PCD round to face him, and Shinji appears with a hand covering his mouth and brows knitted. Glaring at the screen.]

I took a lick of some icing,
didn't know it would make me sing.

[He growls, annoyed at how everything coming out of his mouth, despite his gravely serious tone, sounded like silly verse.]

[voice]

Hello, this is Shinji of Tobari City.

... [a long pause followed, as if the speaker was expecting a response. Perhaps he was confusing the device with some sort of mobile phone?] No answer?

[After another pause, shorter this time, he let out an audible sigh.]

What is this, anyway?

... That guy'd give me something like this. He always wants to keep in touch. I hope he didn't waste too much money on this thing.

Hn. Something to eat would've made a more useful gift, not to mention a cheaper one.

[There's a bit of shuffling and the sound of footsteps.]

... Or a map.

This place doesn't look familiar. [A couple of keypresses, figuring the device might have an application similar to a PokeMap, before the recording stops abruptly.]
